Joint College SAS Conference - Going for Gold
29 Nov 2011Frontier will reimburse SASG doctors in London Trusts who attend this conference through the usual sponsorship process. Please see the 'Sponsorship and Funding' section for more information.
Following a highly successful inaugural meeting in January 2010 at the Royal College of Surgeons, the next Joint College Conference for SAS doctors will be hosted by the Royal College of Physicians on Friday 27 January 2012.
At regional and trust level most SAS doctors have attended a range of short courses providing the basics in areas of medical management and teaching but what is the next step to make a significant change to your career? This may be a 1-3 year plan which requires careful preparation for appraisal and CPD planning.
This one-day conference will allow leading experts in medical leadership and education to give practical advice, ideas and inspiration for such career development. Topics will be introduced by SAS doctors who have expanded their roles.
Talks will include:
- I want to be clinical lead in 2 years – how to prepare?
- maximising opportunities for learning
- niche roles for SAS doctors
- can I get involved in service re-design?
- motivation
As 2012 is the year of the Olympics, the theme of training and preparation to reach your goal will continue throughout the conference.
There will also be an opportunity to meet your college SAS representatives and to discuss how you can become involved in the work of the colleges. SAS doctors from all specialties/colleges are welcome to attend.
