What can Frontier fund?

Frontier exists to provide additional CPD opportunities for the SASG community.  There is a growing number of courses, conferences, secondments and qualifications that Frontier has provided funding to attend, and we are always evaluating which other opportunities might be of benefit to you.   At the moment Frontier funding is available for:

Conferences

Every specialty has conferences that help to keep you up to date with the latest developments. We provide funding to maximise your ability to attend these conferences and stay at the top of your game.  We can also support you to attend conferences related medical education, leadership and career development.

Courses

There's a range of courses on offer out there.  We think you're the best person to decide which ones you need.  From short study courses to brush up on a skill, exam revision courses for Royal College membership through to e-learning courses to introduce you to a whole new area of your specialty; we can provide funding to attend these courses or use these online self-study resources.

Qualifications

Sometimes a course will fulfil your need, but sometimes you need the qualification to match.  Additional qualifications increase your employability, giving you more choice over where you work and increasing your expertise.  Financial support to undertake a qualification can give you the chance to learn new things in greater depth

Secondments

When you need to get first hand experience in a new area of your specialty, Frontier can sponsor you to go on secondment for up to six months.  This funding is for backfill while you are away.

Research publishing

Sometimes development is about letting others know what you've been doing.  Undertaking research projects and publishing in journals can help develop your skills, prove competencies for future positions and help you with CESR if you ever want to apply.  We recognise that the costs of submitting your research to journals can be prohibitive so Frontier are now welcoming applications for funding to cover the cost of journal submissions. Please note:  this is to cover the cost of submission to journals; Frontier cannot cover the cost of conducting research.

Subscription to eResources

Frontier currently offers free subscriptions to CPD online for Psychiatrists via our access to Athens.  However, there may be other eResources you wish to take advantage of in your own time and at your own pace.  New for 2012, you can apply for sponsorship for subscriptions to up to  four eResources.

Successful applications for courses/conferences/qualifications will be capped at a maximum of 4 per applicant per year.  Frontier will award sponsorship for secondments of up to 6 months per doctor per year (1 April-31 March)
